OEKO-TEX®, GOTS and GRS: what textile certifications really mean
By Saymin Tekstil · · 5 min read
A clear, no-jargon explanation of the three certifications brands ask us about most — and when each one matters.
Certifications are a shortcut to trust, but only if you know what they guarantee. Here is how the three most common textile standards differ.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100
Every component of the product has been tested for harmful substances. It is about safety for the wearer, not about how the fibre was grown.
GOTS — Global Organic Textile Standard
Covers organic fibre content (at least 70%) and strict environmental and social criteria across the entire supply chain, from field to finished fabric.
GRS — Global Recycled Standard
Verifies recycled content and tracks it through the supply chain, along with chemical and social requirements at each production stage.
